Day 16 & 17 - Toulouse

October 4/5th, 2002

ugh... shopping

Fabric at a local store in ToulouseWe thought we would spend our last two days touring, and shopping for souvenirs. Toulouse has an endless array of stores; wine, chocolate, fashion, you name it. There was only one problem, we HATE shopping with the red-hot passion of a million suns. We are both horrible at it. Shopping for me usually entails me standing at the entrance of store (I rarely actually go in) and deciding they don’t have anything. Within twenty minutes, we’re both desperately wanting to stop and seek refuge in some café, happens every time. Nevertheless, we wanted some souvenirs, so we forced ourselves. As a consolation, we armed our backpack with croissants and pains au chocolat. I’ll spare you the horrific details, but we eventually got everything we wanted, and then collapsed in a café at the town square. The rest of our time in Toulouse was spent touring the many attractions and simply lazing around the town. Basilique St-Sernin is worth a visit, Place Wilson and Place du Capitole are lively spots for coffee.
